I don't think systemd will make much difference to *building*, though it may make some difference to running test suites during the build (we've seen that before with packages where tests required a running dbus daemon). However, it will obviously have some big impact on *running* the newly compiled code, particularly services that are relying on a non-running system to provide other services.
