Yes, I have a separate /boot partition.
If either, I'm sure it must be a) because after each step, moving the
kernel files to /boot and installing grub, I double checked to see that
all the proper files were there. And /boot was definitely mounted.
This is somewhat of a moot point now, though, since I got systemd up and
running.
