Really, about the only difference is the tool used for modifying the partition. Creating partitions is something the user should already know how to do. We do say:

"Please refer to cfdisk(8) or fdisk(8) if you do not yet know how to use the programs."

We could mention gdisk, but more recent fdisk programs know how to handle gpt partitions.
