Hi, I managed to slog through my CLFS scripts, rebuilding the system just far enough to get a working 64-bit kernel, and copied that into my non-functional 64-bit LFS system. It worked. Then I recompiled the kernel from within the LFS, making sure to check the "64-bit kernel" option, and it seemed to work also. At least, uname -m reports "x86_64", so I guess I have a 64-bit system, right? However, if I ever had to do this again, from scratch, I would definitely try the approach you suggest above. It has to be less painful than what I did. Cheers, РК
