You criticized the person, not the point of discussion, i.e. LFS. That
is exactly what an ad-hominem attack is.

I never have before either, but I like to build/use a pair of identical
twin boxes for just this reason--albeit primarily because "that other
software" throws a hissy-fit if it can see the hardware changed.
Normally I run my "clone" script that goes through the sequence again,
but using the binary tarballs my package manager makes every step.  My
scripts have pre- and post- functions to handle some things.

I aim for the LCD "compatible" kernel options in Ch8, so the
installation kernel will be most likely to boot whatever it gets.  If a
box fails, the drive gets put in some box that's handy, and the kernel
was idiosyncratic, that is NOT good!  After it's running one can rebuild
a customized kernel.

But I'll be building this BLFS for LCD i686.
