My first was a 1620 too, Model 2, Monitor I (got the manual in hand,
C26-5739-4). We had a 1301(?) disk drive attached, but it wasn't for
users, no printer. It's really hard to get people these days to
appreciate these machines.
We did have an IBM selectric like printer attached. One neat thing was
to use the sense switches for debugging:
IF ( SS1 .EQ. 0 ) GOTO 99
PRINT(6,98) VAL1
98 FORMAT('VAL1=', %6.6f)
99 CONTINUE
or something like that. My FORTRAN is a bit rusty. About 25 years
worth. I could go dig out my FORTRAN II reference (all 20 pages) if I
really needed to.
