I am finding the contrary problem -- if it *is* a
problem; most people wouldn't consider it one. Disks
automount for me without my having set anything up! At
first I thought it was the result of my using systemd,
but it happens in Crux too and that uses sysvinit.
I happen to like gtk-based applications. The gtk file
chooser always shows official fstab mount points in its left
hand window, along with other bookmarks. And if I
click on one, it mounts the corresponding drive. I
couldn't find any reference to this in the Gtk Manual,
but if you *want* automounts, this is an easy way to get them.
That's done by the window manager or one of it's applications,
not the underlying system.
