You used
wget --input-file=wget-list --continue --directory-prefix=$LFS/sources
and it didn't work? Did you get the wget-list file and place it in your
current directory?
Another way to get the files is by downloading
http://anduin.linuxfromscratch.org/sources/LFS/lfs-packages/lfs-packages-7.7.tar
That has all the files in one place.
