Nope. I have in the past when building BLFS, say on a 686 for a system
I want to be compatible with a 586. Some configures presume you're
building for at least the current architecture, but I have often built
on the fastest box I can for running on something much more modest, i.e.
using the i7 to build LO for an i686 target. I generally have
C{HOST,TARGET}, {C,C++}FLAGS set in root's variables to the lowest
common denominator for the sort of hardware I'm building for, X86_64 in
this case, and IIRC they were in the initial setup of the lfs user, but
caused an early conflict, so have been removed.

OOPS! There they are. Thanks William.

CLOSED, user flub.
