Yes, many people.


You seem to be trying to script a build; and are introducing extraneous,
erroneous showstopper roadblocks (ref the '&&' bizarreness) into your
scripts; and are thus _NOT_ following THE BOOK; yet you seem to be at
least implicitly criticising the book.


Do a manual build, following carefully THE BOOK : only after successful
completion of such, should any attempts at automating/scripting be done -
unless you really know what you're doing.

Slackware '-current', & in-house 'distro'; all dead simple, no problem.


(Note also that - per internet-standard 'how to ask questions' etiquette -
the likes of the aforenoted tone, will often reduce the number of replies
that you'd've gotten otherwise.)
