this NIC would probably serve you perfectly today as it did back then.

It all depends on the external link: unless you have a broadband
connection wider that this first hop, the march of technology passed
right by. :)

Oh, I remember the 2.4. Back then, I was on Mandrake, until I tried to
upgrade the kernel and destroyed the system. It never recovered.
