Yes, Chapter 6 is all done as root. Once you are in the chroot environment, 
this is perfectly safe, as you can no longer accidentally trash your host 
system. But these initial steps, which are required to make the new partition 
chrootable, are a bit hair-raising. I always execute them very cautiously.
