And what are the wide-character and non-wide-character libraries? -Devin I think it's what they call their UTF-8 support. That's the only idea I have for you at the moment, sorry. I'm sure someone else will chime in this evening though. I had an issue with missing ncurses libs a while back...but I deviate from the book a great deal, build as a multilib system and a bunch of other crazy stuff... unfortunately I never did figure out what I did wrong, but I started over with some improvements to my method and everything worked much better. I doubt this solution applies to your situation though.
