intel-microcode-64.bin : that works, in as much as it put all the
microcode into a single cpio, and early loading looked through that
and found the right fw.  But that was on my SandyBridge, and the
latest microcode version is still 0x22, i.e. no change.

But for people who have multiple different intel machines, and are
set to use early loading, taking the debian firmware package (if you
are happy that the unreleased fw is ok ;-) is a viable way of
benerating a bigger initrd (1.4 MB for only the 64-bit versions)
which can be quickly rolled out.
