It'd be nice to think the last few seconds of your work were still
saved in some state. Is there a way to make a secondary copy that you
could test?

My question is based on my perception of playing with several various
"VM" packages that might not be quite what you're doing in your case.
I multiple times over had no problem reusing backup copies BUT...
those had not crashed and burned, not that I can remember, anyway. :)

I had done some things like this (LFS) in bits and pieces going back
many years ago while trying to install a local copy of the W3C's HTML
validator. Doing this repetitively now while watching each package
build on top of others helps it make a whole lot more sense.

That's one of the reasons I try to slip in a plug for LFS where
appropriate. This project offers good Linux core newbie knowledge
that's applicable to so many other distributions even if users only
make it through that Chapter 5.

Chapter 5 is where I ended my first effort at because my hardware did
literally *burn*. My desktop PC's power supply kicked the bucket so
I'm on an ASUS 1015px with 1GB memory right now. I've been thinking
about trying it anyway just to see how far it gets BUT... my current
package currency is several months behind... on dialup. It's going to
take "a little bit of time" to catch back up to speed to Step One:
Download Those Packages. :))
