Short answer: no It should work with 6.1. What may have happened is that some of the steps at the end of the ncurses page (6.24) have not been fully done: you should check that you have /usr/lib/libncurses.so, and that it is a text file containing: INPUT(-lncursesw) Furthermore, there should be a file /usr/lib/libncursesw.so, which is a symlink pointing to ../../lib/libncursesw.so.6 If this is set, configure should find tgetent in -lncurses. If some of it is not set, review the instructions after make install in 6.24.
