First, the entire message of the kp is relevant. Even a picture of the screen
would help.

Second, you should start with your working kernel .config when building a new
config and run `make oldconfig` when building a new kernel.

Third, did you have an initrd image in use before and you don't now? This has
been posted on the internet too much to ask more questions here. Put your
string in and follow some of the hits. Here is one:
