On your host system, run 'lspci'.  It should give a line like

05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 15)

or

00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V (rev 05)

From there, go into the kernel configuration and try to select the correct driver. If unsure, you can select multiple drivers.

Also on the host, run 'lsmod' to help you determine the right driver.
