For some reason I have not yet received Chris's original post, since
it is from yahoo I expect my upstream has decided it's spam.
And Marty's and maybe also Chris's mailer produce(s) long lines which
makes the quoted details hard to read. So, I'll start by posting my
own most recent 9.0 summary here (and yes, specifying the version is
important).
Summary of test results:
2 FAIL
6071 PASS
23 UNSUPPORTED
17 XFAIL
2 XPASS
We happily ignore UNSUPPORTED tests, so the problem is two more
FAILs which seem to be nptl/tst-create-detached and
nptl/tst-mutex10.
A quick look at google suggests the first of those was added in
glibc-2.25, and there was a later report of it failing on a slow
hppa machine with a suggestion that it failed due to timeouts, for
which a patch was merged into glibc-2.26.
The release notes for glibc-2.29 reported the second test as known to
fail on ARM and MIPS! Maybe you have a slow machine or are building
32-bit ?
Summary: neither failure is common, but I doubt you will get any
detailed help unless you can say what is different about your host
system (I suppose that an old host system might contribute to the
problem). You probably started by saying "2 known failures became
4, and not for any of the known reasons". I will suggest that you
view this as "I got 2 extra failures, for unknown reasons" and
continue.
Either there will be a number of additional failures in testsuites,
in which case there might be a general problem, or everything else
will be fine.
Oh, and Marty - please don't top post, but thanks for your initial
psot.
