Sorry, dropped back to outside the mail to see if the subject gave a
clue, and then accidentally sent it.  And the missed sed in gcc was
from my first attempt to nderstand what was going on.  Let me try
again ...

For some reason, firefox was NOT finding 'dummy' on that page, dunno
why.  Now, after I've looked at the xml on my server, it has decided
to admit that dummy.c _is_ on that page.

Right: at the end of configure for glibc is

     libc_cv_slibdir=/lib

Did you miss that ?  Or maybe it _was_ the sed in gcc.
