I have checked and checked some more times and always overlooked this
when configuring ncurses:
--with-gxx-include-dir=$LFS/tools/$LFS_TGT/include/c++/10.1.0
I should have left '$LFS' out of it.
Sorry for the trouble, I should have known better after all these years.
