Hello: With the use of some comments and advice from mailing list members Ken Moffat and Bruce Dubbs, et. al., I was able to complete a full build of LFS 9.1 that has a working grub.cfg and eth0 functions. This time, I took an extra chance of using the BLFS features at the very end to add Lynx, wget, and ssh functionality. Perhaps personal fatigue had something to do with accuracy in the final stages on previous attempts.
For readers limited to a 32-bit hardware setup, I want to pass along something useful. After trying a number of combinations of host OS and LFS packages which for reasons unknown to me were not working, I found a prime combination. It enabled me to focus on my build processes and not platform issues. It is Devuan 7.0.0 and LFS 9.1. I also had a System Rescue 7.01 emergency CD ready. It was not needed this time, but on previous attempts it was a real lifesaver for the project. The system boots perfectly and can do networking both LAN and WAN. Thank you again to those who responded to my inquiries! :-) Brian -- http://lists.linuxfromscratch.org/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page Do not top post on this list.
