For newer versions of packages you can:

1. Read the security advisories (in this case), which should point
to the development books (these normally get created after the books
have been updated)

2. Look at the development books

3. For packages where we know about a newer version but have not yet
updated the books, look at open tickets in the wiki (select LFS or
BLFS, then View Tickets).  And then either try it out on a test
machine (there might be altered dependencies or other issues) or
wait until we have updated the books.
