I'd like to apologize in advance if you've already seen this email.
I'm re-sending it because it hasn't come back to my mailbox or into
the archives yet, and I'm worried that the list may be down or
something similar may have befallen my email.

So, I'm working on a project at my company to try to provide an ftps
client that will be mostly similar to the plain vanilla
solaris/bsd/linux/aix/hp-ux ftp for use in current expect scripts. So
far lftp behaves very well as an ftps client, and I am wondering if
there's a way to get its interactive behavior to look like ftp.

Things that I've noticed are different enough from the traditional ftp
are being able to set the binary or ascii status of the transfers
(i.e. bin or type ascii, depending on the server).

Another thing is that when I type "lftp some-ftp-host" I think that
developers would have their expect scripts set to wait on the username
and password prompts, while lftp waits for the user command to be issued.

Has this been brought up before? I don't see options to change the
startup behavior, but there are a lot of options and I could have been
looking for the wrong words.

Thanks,

-Peter
