Also, are you attempting to make a secure connection (Implicit SSL over port 990), I think this maybe the issue. In an attempt to recreate the errors you are seeing, I used my FTP client (FTP Voyager) and just tried to connect to the FTPS server on port 990 without specifying Implicit SSL, here is what I got (it's similar to what you're seeing ) It seems that I have to make the ftp connection first, and then switch to ssl .... can this be done with lftp ?
