I actually had this same issue yesterday except I never closed lftp. I could have put the queue into the background somehow but I'm not sure how. I never saw this happen before and I've been using lftp for quite some time. I tried a bunch of things with the queue command but it seemed like I couldn't access that queue anymore even though it was still listed as queue item 0.
