You can bookmark the connection. Yes, the password is stored in plain text in ~/.lftp/bookmarks but connecting with the bookmark will not let the password be seen in all the other places you list. See: bmk:save-passwords . It's probably not a good enough solution for you. I thought I'd just mention it as it seemed relevant.
