I would be happy to look into that. I had assumed that either
re-ordering was happening somewhere and I just didn't see it, or it was
not needed. We (HandBrake) have not had any complaints that truehd
audio transcodes sound wrong, so the default order must be good for many
sources.

are mapped?
Not that I know of, the best way is to find a sample that names the
channels. Ie some voice says left, right etc and then you match it
against another reference file. I use Audacity and decode a 5.1 file to
wav and then check so that channel order is correct.
I located a 7.1 channel test sample and the surround and rear surround appear to be swapped. The rest is correct for
this sample. I haven't been able to locate any other tests with different channel arrangements. Do you know of any
others that are available?
