Hi, with those patches, the avio cleanup is finally complete. I'm not very sure about url_exist. It's used in ffmpeg, ffserver and img2, but there were some problems with it [1]. There were patches from Stefano adding a replacement [2] [3] [4], but they didn't get much attention. Maybe we could revive them.
