This will not be worked around in Libav itself. gcc 4.0 and 4.1 are horribly old and unsupported, Mans tells me that at least 4.0 miscompiles VP8, so it's known-broken. All of this calls the usefulness of these two configurations into question. Mans, this is your call. If you are willing to upgrade glibc in those configurations so that they compile again, then we could keep them. If this is too much of a hassle, just delete them. I'm personally slightly in favor of deleting the configurations, I doubt they are worth the trouble.
