Seems to have been a tool chain screw up, only programs compiled against libc understand *nix permissions which are kept in xattrs and if lost they revert to the default of 644. I wasn't expecting that patch to be committed as the X264 people don't like nasm and I don't feel that I'm knowledgeable enough to unbreak any nasm build breaks. Now that it is committed, should I remove the --disable-yasm configure line in fate? I see the build is broken again with --disable-yasm.
