I don't immediately see what parts of the init code would improve that much. Once the yasm code is in I would need to add a few more conditions and move the others. I propose you the following deal: I will fix the formatting in that file (which is one of the most broken in libav) as a followup instead. That will lead to a big net reduction in ugliness.
