Yes.

I definitely miss inline ASM... specifically when working with MPEG-2.

Perhaps I am biased... I come from the ricer-heavy world of Doom9 and
Avisynth, where every second binary is compiled with ICL, and works
just fine even years later.

That would be eliminated with compat/.
