simplifies how? I don't think I have anything in my configure command
which could be removed after this patch.

examples. The config lines are long but most of is due to the complicated
fate setup.
I have also run into this situation where I had to add -isysroot manually
to cflags/ldflags to make it configure - but now when I retest (xcode 5.1)
it I don't need to and it works just fine with --sysroot, so I'm not
really sure what other things changed recently, since you never seem to
have needed it for your fate setups at least.
