That would work for me.

AFAIUI, there is no chance that Libav11 will be ABI compatible to
Libav10 (i.e., SONAMEs did change), is this correct?

Assuming that Libav11 is going to be at least API (i.e., source-code
compatbile) then having a release early August might be early enough
to make it for Debian 8.0 (AKA "jessie"). Depending how how smooth and
fast that transition works, it *might* even make it for Ubuntu 14.10
(aka "utopic"), but that's going to be close, so no promises.
