PulseAudio sink inputs (i.e. playback streams) offer a lot of
"features" that could not be exposed through the libavdevice
abstraction. For most applications, you are better off outputting to
libpulse directly or through a more specific and feature-rich audio
output abstraction.
And then there is the major issue of timing.
