At least 3 people prefer this way and having consistency is surely better here. As a distribution packager I *need* that the software I build stays predictable notwithstanding the surroundings. In this case is sort of moot for me since builds with disabled optimizations aren't my target and having the valgrind trace requires running it in valgrind. On the other hand people use the past as example and they are usually unlucky enough to pick the corner-case/odd part more than the common and safe one.
