They are using Libav, and they give enough prominent notice of it and
the distribution repackaging seems to point to the right source.

There are lots of projects making money out of Libav that are not so
upfront in telling they are using it (the license does not require you
to be prominent but just to offer the sources so the end user can
recompile and replace it)

avconv isn't altered but just repackaged the extension uses the overlay
filter during the conversion and that's it. Doesn't seem you need to
register to use the feature, but just to remove the watermark linking to
their website.
