Why wouldn't it work in a linux environment? `command` is POSIX.

Oh - sorry, I was mistaken. I thought it meant "command" as in
"command.com"; there have been other suggestions to use cmd.exe for some
msys path hacking earlier in the msvc support, so I incorrectly assumed it
was something related to that.
