No, you must link it. It was always like that.
Unfortunately I have no idea what is controlling the linking order in
a ROS catkin build. I will ask about that in the ROS help mailing lists.
Can you print out the verbose command that cmake creates, instead of
just the parsing of the file as you did before? That is, VERBOSE=1.
