Did you try to add a space after ‘;’ In the command line doc 
(https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-protocols.html#HTTP-Cookies 
<https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-protocols.html#HTTP-Cookies>) it seems to have it 
for ffplay.
ffplay -cookies "nlqptid=nltid=tsn; path=/; domain=somedomain.com;" 
http://somedomain.com/somestream.m3u8
