Is this going in a product that you sell?

If the product or it's advertising has a Dolby Logo or the word Dolby or any Dolby trademark....

--> You will most likely need a license to use the Logo and trademarks.

--> You will need to pass Dolby certification to meet the requirements for the license.  Dolby will probably require you to use their decoder.  I've got different responses from them about this over the years.

Hi,
I am wondering if we need to get any licensing approval from Dolby in order to use ac3 and eac-3 decoding? As per a weblink: "Patents relating to our Dolby Digital technologies expire between 2008 and 2017."
I guess this statement is applicable more for ac3, not for eac3.
Please let me know if anyone can help on these Dolby licensing aspects and have come across this situation before.

Thanks,
Rohit Khali
