Hi FFmpeg team, I am planning to start a shareware (try-before-buy) project that implies using of the FFmpeg libraries.
I am ready to include the LGPL text into one of the pages of the installation program. I am ready to mention FFmpeg in the installation program as well, in the form the FFmpeg license demands it. I am ready to put direct web links to the LGPL web page and to the FFmpeg project web page from the "About..." dialog box of the application. I am NOT about to hide the fact of using of the FFmpeg libraries in any way (via renaming DLL-s and so forth). I would be happy to support the FFmpeg project with reasonable fee in the case of success of my shareware business. ----------- So the only question I have is: "am I obligated to provide access to the source code of _my_ application since I am using exterior LGPL libraries?" I doubt if anyone will buy a shareware program while she/he can download sources and compile them into runnable EXE. But the very last thing I want is to get to this web page: http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/shame.html I realize that my question is due to lack of understanding of concepts of GNU licensing, but could you please be so kind to answer it? Thank you in advance. With best regards, Andrey Kovalenko. _______________________________________________ libav-user mailing list [email protected] https://lists.mplayerhq.hu/mailman/listinfo/libav-user
