If you emit an http 1.0 response, you don't need to specify a  
content-length.  Does that help?

I suppose you could figure out the encoded length if you knew how many  
frames of audio and video you have, and carefully choose a container and  
formats with a constant bitrate.  I don't know of any libav function that  
will calculate this, though.
