My Sony handycam creates AVCHD with metadata for each frame or group of
frames: time, date, shutter info, geo info. DVMP can actually show this
while playing the video. I want to create a simple program that takes the
video stream and creates an SRT file with the frame meta data. My media
player can then play the AVCHD video while displaying the metadata.

I'm new to ffmpeg - can it be used to generate this meta data extractor from
an H.264 stream? Has anyone tried it or know references? I guess it's
comparable to what programmes like dv_datecode.exe were doing with DV. I've
been googling for a few weeks but cannot find anything useful on this.

Note: the meta data must be in the video stream somewhere. I'm not talking
about data in the PGS stream (which could be made visible with suprip) or
data in other files of the file structure generated by the handcam (where
afaik only meta data for the entire video clip is kept)
