Thanks, Dhaval for putting out the release candidate.

Regarding this v0.42.rc1 release, there are four things I am
monitoring:

1.  Coverity - I have been unable to get coverity to run my
libcgroup build.  I don't expect any major issues to be
uncovered, but I am hoping to complete a coverity run prior
to the actual 0.42 release.  If I can't get it to run, I don't
think this should be an issue that would block the release.

2.  cgrulesengd is currently segfaulting on Ubuntu (and possibly
other distros as well).  I have tracked the issue down to
some changes made several years back when cgroups weren't
automatically being mounted.  cgrulesengd is attempting to
parse the cgconfig.conf file and failing.  At this point,
undoing these old design decisions looks difficult and
potentially error prone, so I am leading toward having this
    be a release note.

3.  There are a few warnings thrown during the config step that
are largely a by-product of autoconf updates that haven't
been applied to libcgroup.  None of them appear critical for
this release and will likely be pushed out to the next
    release.

4.  api.c has several compiler warnings that I believe are
innocuous, but should probably be fixed prior to this release.
I will send out a patchset with fixes for as many of these
    issues as possible next week.

Thanks.

Tom

Hey folks,

Happy New Year!

Thank you Tom for all the updates to libcgroup and getting stuff working again! I have just released v0.42.rc1.

Please go give it a shot. We have a list of things we want to fix and then plan a final release next week.

Please note, this is the final release in this series of libcgroup. We are going to break the interfaces and ABI after v.042 is released. Some of the ideas have been discussed at LPC and elsewhere, and we will be bringing them in to development soon.

Tom will post some more details about these changes.

Thanks!
Dhaval
