I'm sorry to hear the driver gave you a bad experience. The thing is,
due to a lack of developers there are core drivers and there are other
drivers. oracle, ingres and msql belong to the latter. The core
drivers are usually well-maintained, either because there is enough
feedback from users that test-drive them, or because I can test them
on my own boxes. The other drivers are included in the releases
although they are not well tested, hoping that someone bothers to fix
them if needed. This is acknowledged on the libdbi-drivers web page,
but it may be necessary to add a warning to the configure output as
well.

I do not run oracle on any of my boxes, so I can't really help
here. However, if you know oracle well enough to patch the driver,
please consider contributing these patches. We're in dire need of
oracle developers.
