From: Anastasios Noulas <[email protected]> Our research group at the Computer Laboratory in Cambridge University has launched a tool for discovering activity hotspots and neighborhoods in cities. The tool is powered with 6 months of public check-in data sourced from Foursquare. At the moment we have provisionally launched it for three major cities: New York, London and San Francisco.
If you are enjoying location-based services you are welcome to play around with the tool here: http://pizza.cl.cam.ac.uk/hoodsquare/ If you are a local in one of the cities you are welcome to fill our survey (bottom left of the screen). It takes only 2 minutes and your feedback is valuable. We aim to understand how tools like hoodsquare can help citizens augment awareness about their cities, but also understand the bias that these new emerging data sets may involve.
