Hello fellow WiGiT friends and partners: I am announcing the upcoming 15th WiGiT meeting to be held May 10, 2013 10a.m.-12p.m. We will be running the meeting virtually as a Wireless Grid Open Online Course (WOOC), and physically at the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Energy and Environmental Systems, Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York. There will be an introduction by Lee McKnight of Syracuse University and Peter Wong of Tufts University followed by a brief statement of the state of the Wireless Grids Innovation Testbeds (WiGiT). First on the agenda will be a discussion led by Joe Treglia of our award winning Advanced Situational Awareness project (including the component hardware and edgeware): *Social Emergency Response in a Symphony of Destruction: iDAWG & GridstreamX. *Kevin Lair of the Indiana University Center for Art + Design* *will be discussing his collaborative healthcare work*: WiGiT Experimental Testbeds: Design, Art and Architecture. * Janet Marsden and Sidney Clouston will present on* WiGiT Environmental Science and Best Practices. * Moving to our African Partners, Edmund Okoroigwe will present on how wireless grids can improve energy distribution and conservation.* WiGiT Experimental Testbeds: Africa Energy Sustainability. * Darren Oliveiro-Priestnall of Redskies Oxford, United Kingdom will demonstrate how wireless grids can be used to control UAVS*: Unmanned Vehicles and the Oxford Cluster. * The final presentation will be with Igor Tyukhov, *UNESCO* Chair on Renewable Energy, Moscow State University* on Ecologically Clean Engineering.* There will be a short question and answer time at the end of each presentation. This will require you to have a microphone enabled to speak, or a question can be submitted in real-time using the chat function found on our virtual platform. Additionally, we have formally released Open Specifications For Wireless Grids Technical Requirements (v0.2)<https://wigit.ischool.syr.edu:2083/cpsess6492079384/frontend/x3/filemanager/showfile.html?file=0424WiGiT+Open+Specs+V0.2.pdf&fileop=&dir=%2Fhome%2Fwigit%2Fpublic_html%2Fassets%2Fopen-specs&dirop=&charset=&file_charset=utf-8&baseurl=&basedir=>, outlining new 'use cases' and we will be gathering feedback regarding the specifications before, during and after the meeting.
