September 2013 Newsletter Expanding the Literacy Boost Project Next Stop: Ethiopia - http://cts.vresp.com/c/?PolderInc.OMPT/54b3d9b136/8bf65810b4/cb5cdc642a This October, One Media Player per Teacher will be in Ambo, Ethiopia expanding our collaboration with Save the Children for their Literacy Boost Project. It is a truly transformative program, which not only teaches children basic reading skills, but involves the schoolteachers and communities as well. We will hold our Video Education Workshop, training two dozen Save the Children staff members to magnify the impact of their intervention by integrating video. OMPT has worked with Save the Children staff from Mozambique, Kenya, Malawi, and Nepal. Check out our video below from our latest trip to Mozambique, where one of the staff members commented: "With these machines (pico projectors) I think it can reduce the costs because from now, it's possible to train the communities in their own communities." Anna, from the Digital Study Hall office in Lucknow, India said: "This could do exactly the same thing as all of my hundreds of pounds of equipment...they do seem sort of like a miracle because they are not only lightweight but user friendly." OMPT supplied the non profit with several lightweight and affordable projectors, which are more efficient especially in rural areas without electricity. They can easily be charged with a solar panel.
